Homestudy Arrives!

We received our completed homestudy in the mail today. We will be faxing a copy of it to Taiwan tomorrow so that it can be translated and ready when a baby becomes available. We should be receiving a fingerprint date soon from INS in Indianapolis. We also will soon be completing Power of Attorney papers and faxing them to Taiwan to be translated as well.

When a baby becomes available, The Home of God's Love will mail us a petition to adopt, a passport application for the baby, a translated copy of homestudy and power of attorney papers. We will then need to sign the petition and passport application and have them notarized. We will take all of the above documents to Indianapolis to have them apostilled by the Secretary of State. We will then mail all of these documents along with English copies of everything to the TECO office in Chicago, where they will register the documents to proceed with the adoption in Taiwan.

We don't know how long these documents will take in Chicago, but when we receive them back, we will FEDEX everything to The Home of God's Love where they will begin court proceedings for us.

Ted and Bev will apply for a court date, and in about 2 weeks they will receive a date, which could be up to six weeks away. They will go to court and will then wait 2-4 weeks for the court's adoption contract. They then apply for the passport, wait for it to arrive, have a physical exam done on the child and take all documents to the AIT office in Taipei. Once the AIT office is finished with the documents, a date is set for the visa interview. After the interview, the child has his or her visa and is ready to come HOME!!!!

I know, it sounds like so much, but it sounds a lot easier than when we went to Kazakhstan. Friends of ours who adopted from this Home, were actually able to travel and go themselves to apply for the passport and all the finishing things. Maybe that will be the case for us as well.

For now, we will be still and know that God is in control and that there is nothing we can do to hurry this process up! We learned so much the first time around and we have no desire to try to take things into our own hands, it will all happen in God's timing.

Everyone can be praying that the cutest little Taiwanese baby ever will soon arrive to the Home of God's Love so the next hurdle can begin!!
